Cody Rhodes, who retained the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42, suffered serious injuries during his match against Randy Orton.
The match, which was the main event of the first night of the show, had a brutal finish. According to videos from WWE itself after the show, the “American Nightmare” needed immediate medical attention backstage, even having to go through concussion protocols.
Rhodes’ injury happened shortly before the end of the bout when Orton punched him in the forehead, above the eyebrow, causing a very large cut.

In the end, as we reported here at The Wrestling Reports, Rhodes ended up winning the match with a Cross Rhodes, after Orton left an opening when he attacked Pat McAfee.
However, even in victory, Orton still attacked Rhodes with the Undisputed WWE Championship after the match.
