WWE is reportedly weighing a schedule change for John Cena’s farewell match, aiming to place it directly against AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view. The potential move would set the match for December 27, creating a direct clash between the two promotions.
This would be part of a broader strategy from WWE, which is also planning a premium live event on September 20 in Indianapolis—the same date as AEW’s All Out.

Bryan Alvarez discussed the situation on Wrestling Observer Live. He said the original plan was for Cena’s last match, the end of his year-long retirement tour, to be held at a Saturday Night’s Main Event in early December.
“Originally, the final John Cena match was gonna be in early December at Saturday Night’s Main Event. This is not confirmed, but it does look like there is now a discussion that that date will be moved so it will be head-to-head with AEW Worlds End.”
Cena’s farewell bout was first expected on December 13, likely in Boston. If moved to December 27, it would mark a major shift in plans for closing out the career of one of WWE’s biggest names.
