The Rock Wants WWE to Sign AEW’s Top Star

WWE, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has shown interest in signing Danhausen, though his AEW contract extension prevents any move in the near future.

WWE, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson among those leading the charge, is reportedly interested in signing Danhausen, currently under contract with All Elite Wrestling. The interest comes amid uncertainty over Danhausen’s status in AEW, where he has not been regularly featured.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Danhausen had anticipated the end of his AEW deal but the company exercised a clause that extended his contract through 2026. The original agreement was set to expire in July 2025, but AEW extended the term to cover the time he missed due to a torn pectoral muscle suffered in March 2023. The decision was made against Danhausen’s wishes.

Johnson has long been vocal about his appreciation for Danhausen’s unique character. His name is now linked with WWE’s growing interest in the performer, though the AEW extension blocks any immediate signing.

Despite the contractual roadblock, WWE’s interest is said to be centered on the marketability of Danhausen’s gimmick, particularly in merchandise and fan engagement. At present, he remains signed to AEW without creative plans for his return.
