Noelle Foley, Daughter of Mick Foley, Opens Up About Serious 2019 Accident

In a recent appearance on the Rulebreakers podcast with Saraya, Noelle Foley revealed the severity of the injuries she suffered from a roller coaster accident in 2019, stating that doctors discovered she had torn approximately 10 ligaments in her neck. Foley explained that the damage has led to significant instability.

“Because of those torn ligaments, it causes my neck to be unstable,” Foley said. “My head isn’t securely on my neck. Then all your other muscles are overcompensating. So those muscles are probably causing the headaches.”

The incident occurred at the Dollywood theme park in Tennessee. Foley described the ride’s unusual mechanics as the cause of the injury. “Normally roller-coasters, they go up and they go down and then they fizzle out. This one went up, down and then immediately went back up,” she stated. “It’s like your body is forcing forward and then immediately backwards. My head hit really hard and something happened with my neck.”

Following the accident, Foley experienced a persistent headache and extreme fatigue but did not immediately suspect a serious injury. “It took me about two months to realize that I had a concussion,” she noted. “I was just like, ‘This headache is not going away and I’m so sensitive to lights and sound. I feel all weird.'”

Her diagnosis was the result of a long medical journey involving consultations with around 50 different doctors and physical therapists. The breakthrough came from a digital motion X-ray that identified Craniocervical Instability, confirming the extensive ligament damage. An earlier X-ray had also shown that her cervical spine was improperly curved backward.

The injury continues to affect her daily life, causing extreme sensitivity in the back of her head that makes sleeping difficult. Foley also mentioned that the concussion seemed to trigger an “avalanche of issues,” and at one point, she had her breast implants removed while searching for the cause of her health problems.
