Filming for the second season of WWE’s docuseries Unreal is in full swing, already capturing key behind-the-scenes moments leading to SummerSlam 2025.
According to Billi Bhatti on the Dirty Sheets Wrestling Informer podcast, production never really stopped after the first season, keeping a steady stream of footage from WWE’s day-to-day operations.
“They’re already filming season 2 which is the road to SummerSlam and the only reason that they would stop is if Netflix say ‘don’t bother, we don’t want any more content’ — and that’s not happened.”
One incident reportedly caught on camera involved Gunther during SummerSlam weekend. Plans called for the Intercontinental Champion to blade his nose in a way tied to a real sinus surgery he had. Instead, he chose a standard blade job, going against company instructions.
“Gunther had reservations about lacerating his own nose and felt more comfortable just doing a normal blade job. And in the end actually ended up going against the company instructions… making, I think, better content for Unreal if they do decide to show that or not.”
Bhatti noted the change left commentators and production staff in gorilla uncertain about what they were seeing, creating a real moment of confusion that could make the final cut.
Another focus for the new season is Seth Rollins’ recent fake injury storyline, which stirred plenty of speculation among fans.
“So WWE are going to continue to film content and the Seth Rollins fake injury angle is a large part of that.”
The show will also include an episode in the style of Total Divas, spotlighting several WWE couples: Montez Ford and Bianca Belair, Naomi and Jimmy Uso, and Ludwig Kaiser and Tiffany Stratton. Bhatti said Kaiser’s return to TV was partly to set up his role in that segment.
“You will look at Kaiser and Tiffany’s relationship… Montez for Bianca Belair, and Naomi and Jimmy Uso as well. So that will be a very Total Divas-ish episode on the next season of Unreal.”
No premiere date has been confirmed, but with significant material already filmed, fans can expect another in-depth look behind WWE’s curtain when Season 2 arrives.
