Drew McIntyre Questions Bret Hart’s Praise For CM Punk: “He’s Terrible”

Drew McIntyre has publicly criticized the in-ring work of his rival, CM Punk. In a new interview, McIntyre also questioned why WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has consistently praised the “Second City Saint.”

The comments were made during McIntyre’s appearance on the “Huge Pop” podcast. He directly targeted Punk’s wrestling ability while discussing the importance of move execution.

“I mean, like CM Punk, I don’t know how Bret loves him so much,” McIntyre stated. “He’s like the opposite of the Excellence of Execution. His moves are executed terribly, but he believes everything he says and people buy his cr*p. So, good for him, I guess.”

McIntyre’s comments take a direct shot at Bret Hart’s judgment. Hart is famously nicknamed “The Excellence of Execution” due to his legendary technical wrestling skills. For years, the WWE Hall of Famer has been a vocal supporter of CM Punk. Punk, in turn, has often shared his deep admiration for Hart.

This latest statement reignites the intense and personal feud between McIntyre and CM Punk. Their rivalry was a central focus of WWE programming throughout 2024.

The feud led to several high-profile matches. McIntyre secured a victory at SummerSlam, while Punk defeated McIntyre at both Bash In Berlin and WWE Bad Blood later in the year.

During the podcast, McIntyre also explained his own philosophy on wrestling. He argued that performing moves well should be a basic requirement for any wrestler.

“The moves do matter, that’s a prerequisite,” McIntyre said. “If you’re a wrestler and you don’t do the moves well, you shouldn’t be a wrestler. I shouldn’t have to say the moves are important because of course the moves are important. You should be able to execute them well.”
