A real injury has shaken up the WWE Women’s World Championship scene. Naomi was removed from her scheduled defense against IYO SKY on the August 11 episode of RAW after WWE announced she wasn’t medically cleared to compete.
While late match changes can sometimes be part of the show, multiple reports confirmed this was not a storyline. Speaking after RAW, Sean Ross Sapp addressed the situation, saying he was told the injury is real.

“I was told it’s legit, whatever it is. Now, I understand that this week WWE got screwed because they had planned on a big world title match with Naomi, and that’s unfortunate that she got hurt — that sucks.”
The setback comes during a strong title run for Naomi, who won the championship at SummerSlam. The match with SKY had been a key bout, as Naomi has yet to beat her in singles competition.
WWE has not released details on the injury or her recovery. Naomi is currently set to defend her title against Stephanie Vaquer at Clash in Paris, but her status for that event is now in doubt. An official update on her return is still pending.
