The Blindfold Match is officially returning to WWE television for the first time in nearly five years. During NXT Heatwave, General Manager Ava announced that Lexis King will face Myles Borne in the stipulation match on an upcoming episode of NXT.
The decision was presented as a direct consequence of King’s recent actions. After King attempted to blind his rival and showed no remorse, an incensed Ava booked the match, leaving King in a state of shock.

While the announcement marks a major return for the match type to television, it is not the first time King and Borne have competed under this rule set. The two have been developing their rivalry with the stipulation at recent NXT house shows, trading victories in the process. King won their first encounter in Venice, Florida on August 9, before Borne evened the score at a live event in Lakeland on August 22.
The stipulation carries an added layer of complexity for Borne, who is legitimately deaf.
This upcoming televised bout will be the first of its kind on WWE programming since the November 18, 2020, episode of NXT, which featured Dexter Lumis fighting Cameron Grimes. The last Blindfold Match to occur on the main roster was in early 2012, when Santino Marella defeated Drew McIntyre.
Historically, the most famous Blindfold Match in WWE took place at WrestleMania 7, where Jake “The Snake” Roberts was victorious over Rick “The Model” Martel.
