Vince McMahon, former WWE chairman, faced a judge in Stamford, Connecticut on Tuesday following a reckless driving charge connected to a violent car crash on July 24. He was cited for driving at high speed and failing to maintain proper distance.
Court documents allege McMahon was operating his Bentley at 80 to 90 miles per hour when the collision occurred on the narrow Merritt Parkway. The impact left both vehicles destroyed and triggered immediate medical evaluations for the other driver, Barbara Doran.

Doran later described the crash as “horrible”, adding she felt “lucky to be alive.” She said the force of the hit sent her car more than 300 feet down the road. According to her, McMahon’s car lost its front wheels on impact, and airbags prevented him from suffering serious injuries.
Doran also revealed that a plainclothes state trooper had already been following McMahon for speeding and weaving through traffic. She recalled the officer telling her that McMahon’s last-second swerve—resulting in a rear-side hit instead of a direct collision—may have saved her life.
Though she walked away shaken and trembling for 20 minutes, Doran later developed neck pain and underwent hospital tests. She emphasized the severity of the crash by noting both cars were declared total losses.
In a striking coincidence, the accident took place just hours before news broke of Hulk Hogan’s death, a development that dominated the wrestling world that same day.
McMahon previously resigned from his roles at WWE and parent company TKO Group Holdings after allegations of sexual misconduct. The outcome of this new case will now depend on the court proceedings ahead.
