ROH has confirmed a major title match for Death Before Dishonor. On August 29, Athena will put her ROH Women’s Championship on the line against Mina Shirakawa.
This bout carries a personal edge. It marks Shirakawa’s return after a broken hand sidelined her, an injury she sustained in her last match with Athena at AEW All In. The champion’s O Face finisher caused the injury, and Shirakawa now comes back aiming for the title and payback against the opponent who kept her out of action.
Shirakawa also holds the Interim ROH Women’s Television Championship, adding extra championship stakes to this meeting.
For Athena, this match closes out a busy week. Just five days earlier, on August 24, she is set to challenge “Timeless” Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
Death Before Dishonor’s card also features Bandido defending the ROH World Championship against Hechicero, and Lee Moriarty putting the ROH Pure Championship on the line against Xelhua.
