Man Accused of Stalking Liv Morgan Seeks Pre-Trial Release From Jail

Shawn Chan, charged with stalking WWE’s Liv Morgan, has filed a motion for his release from prison. The request comes as Morgan remains off WWE programming while recovering from a significant shoulder injury sustained in June.

Man Accused of Stalking Liv Morgan Seeks Pre-Trial Release From Jail

While Liv Morgan recovers from a shoulder surgery that has kept her off WWE television since mid-June, a serious off-screen legal issue involving her alleged stalker continues to develop. Morgan, who was in the middle of a “Revenge Tour” storyline, has been sidelined since suffering a displaced shoulder during a match against Kairi Sane on the June 16 episode of RAW.

In a recent development related to her personal security, Shawn Chan, the Canadian fan accused of stalking the WWE star, is attempting to secure his release from prison. On August 20, Chan’s legal team filed a motion requesting he be released from custody in Hernando County, Florida, ahead of his trial. The motion suggested he could reside at a Salvation Army facility. A decision on the request has not yet been made by the court.

Chan was arrested on June 3 following an investigation into events that occurred at Morgan’s home in late May. According to court documents, Chan flew from Ontario to Orlando on May 26 and arrived at Morgan’s residence four days later. He was allegedly captured on security footage circling the property, entering the backyard, and attempting to force his way through the front door.

Before leaving the premises, Chan left a note that read, in part:

I am me, Shawn, the one you all play games with online. […] I came here for just a friendly visit, that is all. Yet I look like the stalker thanks to you. […] I just wanted you to know I was here.

WWE’s security team identified Chan from the footage and alerted the FBI, leading to his arrest. He was formally charged on June 25 and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Meanwhile, Morgan is currently rehabilitating from her surgery, with an expected return to the ring targeted for early 2026, potentially around the Royal Rumble. WWE has opted to keep her entirely off television during her recovery, a strategic decision the company often employs to make a talent’s eventual return feel more significant. This approach, however, was recently questioned by former WWE writer Vince Russo, who argued that keeping Morgan on-screen would have maintained her character’s momentum.

During her absence, a new storyline has emerged involving her on-screen partner, Dominik Mysterio, and Roxanne Perez. This development creates a clear narrative path for Morgan’s eventual return, likely positioning her as a heroic figure against the new pairing.
