Major Update On Stephanie Vaquer’s Match At Clash In Paris

Following the vacancy of the Women’s World Championship, WWE has officially removed Stephanie Vaquer from her scheduled title match at Clash In Paris, though a future opportunity has been promised by Raw GM Adam Pearce.

Major Update On Stephanie Vaquer’s Match At Clash In Paris

Stephanie Vaquer has been officially removed from the Clash In Paris card. During the August 25 episode of Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce informed Vaquer backstage that her promised Women’s World Title match will not take place at the event. He assured her, however, that she will still receive the championship opportunity she earned, with an opponent and date expected to be announced as soon as next week.

The decision comes just one week after Naomi announced her pregnancy and vacated the Women’s World Championship on the August 18 edition of Raw, making the originally scheduled title match impossible.

Vaquer first earned her title shot by winning a 20-woman battle royal at Evolution in July. Her opponent was slated to be Naomi, who captured the championship later that same night after successfully cashing in her Money in the Bank contract.

While WWE’s on-air confirmation came today, Vaquer had already addressed the match’s cancellation on social media. In a statement on August 22, she congratulated Naomi and her husband, Jimmy Uso, on their “future superstar that’s on the way.”

Maintaining her on-screen persona, Vaquer added that she would one day tell their baby how the child “helped you escape from me and prevented ‘Stephanie Velcro’ from winning the title in Paris.” Naomi responded in kind, thanking Vaquer but warning that she and her baby would “beat your a– when I get back.

With Vaquer’s match now off the table, a new women’s championship bout was added to the event. It was announced during Raw that Becky Lynch will defend the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Nikki Bella at Clash In Paris on August 31.
