Legendary WWE Tag Team Reunites For Big Win At AEW Forbidden Door

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage secured a victory in their first tag team match together in AEW, defeating Kip Sabian and Killswitch in the opening contest of Forbidden Door from London’s O2 Arena. The decisive moment saw Christian lift Sabian for a spear from Copeland, with Cage then making the cover for the pinfall.

The match, their first as a tandem since 2011, initially showed signs of friction between the veteran partners. Cage was notably hesitant to tag into the match when the larger Killswitch was the legal opponent. Sabian and Killswitch experienced their own dissension, highlighted by a moment when Killswitch delivered a hard chop to Sabian’s chest in lieu of a tag.

As the bout progressed, Copeland and Cage began to work together more effectively. Following the victory, the two shook hands in the ring, but the reunion appeared tentative. When Copeland moved in for an embrace, Cage hesitated before pulling away.

This on-screen reluctance aligns with the narrative that brought the team back together. The reunion was officially sparked on the August 13 episode of AEW Dynamite when Cage saved Copeland from an attack by FTR. The partnership has been framed as a temporary alliance focused on Copeland seeking revenge against Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. Killswitch was a late addition to the match, replacing Nick Wayne, who was sidelined with a foot injury.
