Following a ringside confrontation, AJ Styles has been granted an Intercontinental Championship match against Dominik Mysterio for the September 1st episode of WWE RAW, live from Paris, France.

Dominik Mysterio Set To Defend Intercontinental Championship On Next Week’s RAW

“Dirty” Dominik Mysterio is set to defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles next week. The title match was announced during the August 25th broadcast of Raw and will take place at the Paris La Défense Arena in Paris, France.

The confirmation came after Raw General Manager Adam Pearce was approached backstage by Mysterio, leading to the official scheduling of the championship bout for the September 1st show.

This title opportunity for Styles follows direct involvement between the two rivals earlier in the evening. During a match between Dragon Lee and The Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh, Mysterio attempted to interfere on behalf of his stablemate. However, Styles rushed to ringside to intercept and neutralize Mysterio, preventing him from influencing the match’s outcome.

The upcoming encounter in Paris continues a rivalry that recently saw Mysterio retain the Intercontinental Championship against Styles at SummerSlam under controversial circumstances.

Adding a layer of uncertainty to the scheduled defense, reports emerged after the broadcast concerning Mysterio’s condition. He appeared to have sustained an injury during a match that occurred off-air before the live show, raising questions about his status for the upcoming title defense. The specific nature of the potential injury has not been disclosed.
