David Finlay made his surprise debut on tonight’s AEW Dynamite, in El Paso, Texas. After many rumors and speculations about his future in pro-wrestling, and after not renewing his contract with NJPW at the end of January, the wrestler finally appeared in AEW.

One of the main attractions of the show was a Tag Team Match, in which Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin defeated Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors. However, right after the combat, Finlay emerged and, using a cane, attacked Cassidy and Allin. Subsequently, Connors and Kidd joined him to finalize the attack on the babyfaces.

Shortly after the segment, AEW officially announced on its social media the signings of David Finlay, Gabe Kidd, and Clark Connors, who now form the stable The Dogs. Unlike Finlay, however, Kidd and Connors had already been making recurring appearances in the company.

Before this debut, Finlay had been closely observed by WWE. The Stamford company, in fact, showed interest in the wrestler since the beginning of January, possibly even before AEW.

The rumors about a move to WWE cooled down two weeks ago, when it was reported that the company would have no immediate creative plans for him, due to the total focus on the Road to WrestleMania.
