Despite nothing being officially defined, there are great chances of Cody Rhodes defeating Drew McIntyre in the next episode of Friday Night SmackDown, recovering the Undisputed WWE Championship.

If this result happens, Drew McIntyre should face Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42, while the American Nightmare will put the title on the line against the winner of the Men’s Elimination Chamber, Randy Orton.

With these new scenarios being drawn, many fans are questioning the motives that led WWE to take the title from Rhodes, on January 09, to pass it to McIntyre.

According to Fightful Select, the idea behind Rhodes’ defeat in the Three Stages of Hell Match, in Berlin, aimed to make him fight in the Royal Rumble and in the Elimination Chamber, in order to increase the relevance of the events.

“We were also informed that one of the reasons for taking the belt from Cody Rhodes was to ensure his presence in the Royal Rumble and in the Elimination Chamber, increasing the attraction power of these big shows.”

On the other hand, the portal indicates that WWE’s plans always consisted of Rhodes and Orton facing each other for the title at the Showcase of Immortals, regardless of the path used to arrive at this combat.

“A source revealed to Fightful, still in January, that both Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton were already aware that this was the proposed plan for WrestleMania.”

It is important to highlight, however, that WWE has been making several alterations to its main plans for WrestleMania 42. Much of this indecision is due to the fact that ticket sales for the event have not yet taken off.

Based on this, despite being unlikely, there are chances of McIntyre not losing the title next Friday, which would change this entire new scenario completely.
