Birmingham Crowd Mocks Current Champion’s Head Size On RAW

JD McDonagh faced a hostile crowd during the August 25 edition of Monday Night Raw, as the live audience serenaded him with chants about his head throughout his match against Dragon Lee. The night ended in defeat for McDonagh, who was pinned following Lee’s Operation Dragon finisher.

The chants were both specific and relentless. The audience cycled through a number of taunts, including “Your head’s massive,” “You’re just a shit Finn Balor,” and a creative rendition of “He’s got the whole world in his head.”

The loss marks a significant losing streak for McDonagh, representing his third consecutive singles defeat and his sixth straight on Monday Night Raw. Conversely, the victory was a crucial one for Dragon Lee, snapping his own two-match losing streak and securing his first win on Raw since November 2024.

The intense focus on McDonagh was part of a larger trend for the night, as the Birmingham crowd was exceptionally vocal for WWE’s first broadcast from the city in 12 years. Roman Reigns, for example, opened the show to a massive reception, including an “OTC” chant and the audience singing his name.

However, that supportive atmosphere quickly shifted when Paul Heyman appeared alongside Bronson Reed. As Heyman attempted to address his former client on the fifth anniversary of their alliance, he was met with loud “Shut the f**k up” chants. The segment ultimately led to a brawl between Reigns and Reed, setting up their match at the upcoming Clash in Paris.
