Eddie Kingston has confirmed he is not yet medically cleared to compete, despite feeling physically ready for a return to All Elite Wrestling. During a recent appearance on Cezar Bononi’s podcast, Kingston stated he is waiting for the company to book a match for him once he receives official clearance.
“My job, right now, is to be ready for when it’s time. You never know when that call is,” Kingston said. “I talked to my boss. I talked to him and everything is good.”

Kingston elaborated on his recovery process, noting a recent decrease in strength discovered during physical therapy after focusing more on agility drills. He affirmed his commitment to completing his remaining physical therapy sessions.
“Everything takes time. I’m not cleared yet. I feel, because I’ve done practice, sparring matches, I feel like I can go right now, but again I’m not (medically cleared),” he explained. “When it’s time, when I get cleared, when the fight is booked, when everything is good to go, you will know.”
Kingston also addressed fan speculation regarding his absence, clarifying that the situation is straightforward. “Just for the people out there getting mad that think something’s deeper than what it is, it’s not,” he added.
The injury occurred at NJPW Resurgence on May 11, 2024, during a No Ropes Last Man Standing match against Gabe Kidd. Kingston suffered a broken leg, a torn meniscus, and a torn ACL after taking a suplex through a stack of tables where his leg struck the guardrail. The injury has kept him sidelined for over a year and forced him to miss the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view for a second consecutive year, an event he expressed disappointment over missing due to his desire to compete against talent from Japan.
