Luchasaurus made his official return to AEW during the August 20th broadcast of Dynamite from Glasgow, Scotland. The return occurred after Nick Wayne announced he was injured and unfit to compete at the upcoming Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Wayne then introduced Luchasaurus as his replacement, who proceeded to attack both his scheduled opponents, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.
This marks the first on-screen appearance for Luchasaurus since September 2024, when he was sidelined due to a severe case of double pneumonia that caused his blood oxygen levels to drop significantly. Per the announcement, he will now team with Kip Sabian to face Copeland and Cage this Sunday, August 24th.

The attack solidifies a turn for Luchasaurus against his former ally, Christian Cage. The two were part of The Patriarchy stable, but Luchasaurus’s return segment saw him deliver a chokeslam to Cage, cementing the end of their alliance.
The match at Forbidden Door stems from an ongoing rivalry involving Copeland and Cage. After Copeland returned from a brief hiatus, he came to Cage’s aid following an attack by Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian after All In: Texas, which led to the originally scheduled tag team match. With Luchasaurus now injected into the feud, the confirmed match is Luchasaurus and Kip Sabian versus Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.
