AJ Styles made a surprise appearance at AAA Triplemanía XXXIII on August 16, attacking Dominik Mysterio during the main event and costing him the AAA Mega Championship. The interference allowed El Hijo del Vikingo to retain his title in the fatal four-way match that headlined the Mexico City show.
The interference occurred in the final moments of the championship match. After Mysterio delivered a splash to Vikingo, the referee was pulled from the ring before a three-count could be made. A masked individual then entered the ring, stopping the pinfall attempt before revealing himself to be Styles. He proceeded to hit Mysterio with a Styles Clash, which allowed Vikingo to recover, execute a 630 splash, and secure the pinfall victory.
The main event also featured Dragon Lee and El Grande Americano. The bout included significant outside interference, with Finn Balor and JD McDonagh attempting to help their Judgment Day stablemate before the LWO emerged to even the odds.
Styles’ appearance follows the storyline established on the August 11, 2025, episode of WWE Raw, where he teamed with Dragon Lee in a losing effort against Mysterio and El Grande Americano. The Triplemanía XXXIII card, which featured several WWE superstars, was the first to be simulcast live on WWE’s YouTube channel.
