Enzo Amore has revealed that WWE once considered bringing Conor McGregor into WrestleMania plans through a storyline with him.
Speaking in a recent interview, Amore explained that Vince McMahon personally informed him of the project while he was Cruiserweight Champion. At the time, Amore was preparing to split from Big Cass, and McMahon instructed him to attend the boxing match between McGregor and Floyd Mayweather as part of the early buildup.

The creative direction called for Amore to begin provoking McGregor publicly on social media. According to him, the idea was to generate online tension that could later transition into a full rivalry on WWE programming.
Amore said the role envisioned for him was a “loudmouth villain who talks a lot and runs away,” a character style he believed matched well against McGregor’s combat sports persona. Despite the groundwork, the plan was ultimately shelved and never advanced to television.
Although that storyline did not happen, McGregor has continued to interact with WWE personalities over the years. He has traded words online with Paul Heyman and challenged Roman Reigns ahead of SummerSlam 2023.
Amore’s revelation confirms that WWE’s interest in featuring McGregor in its ring was more than speculative at one point. While the rivalry never materialized, the disclosure highlights that discussions between McGregor and WWE leadership have occurred in the past.
