Will Ospreay Reveals WWE Support Ahead of Back Surgery

Will Ospreay has confirmed that he received unexpected support from WWE talent while preparing for spinal surgery that will keep him away from AEW indefinitely.

According to Ospreay, several individuals from WWE, including some he had never spoken with before, reached out with offers of help. He recalled messages that read:

“Hey, if you need a doctor, or if there’s any questions that need answering.”

The surgery will address two herniated discs in his back. Ospreay admitted that the situation has left him scared, as this will be the first operation of his career caused by an in-ring injury. He also acknowledged the possibility that the procedure may force him to change his wrestling style, reducing the number of high-risk moves that have defined much of his work.

AEW wrote Ospreay off television at Forbidden Door. After defeating Jon Moxley in a Lights Out Steel Cage Match in the main event, Ospreay was attacked post-match by Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli. The angle ended with a steel chair wrapped around his neck before he was carried out on a stretcher, giving storyline cover for his absence.

At this point, there is no confirmed timetable for Ospreay’s surgery or his eventual return to the ring.
