During the NXT Heatwave broadcast, General Manager Ava officially announced that both the men’s and women’s WWE Speed Championships will now be exclusively part of the NXT brand. The announcement also included plans for a four-woman, inter-promotional tournament to crown a new number one contender for the Women’s Speed Championship.
This move clarifies the future of the championships, which had been in question since the WWE Speed show, previously aired on the social media platform X, ceased producing new episodes in July. While the show itself is discontinued, the titles will continue under the NXT banner.

The tournament for the women’s title shot will feature a unique crossover format. It is set to include one representative from the WWE main roster, one from NXT, one from TNA Wrestling, and one from Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
The winner of this unique tournament will earn a championship match against the current titleholder, Sol Ruca. That match is scheduled for the upcoming NXT No Mercy premium live event on September 27.
While the announcement confirmed the Men’s Speed Championship, currently held by El Grande Americano, will also be defended in NXT, no specific plans for a future challenger were revealed during the event.
