During the August 22 broadcast of Friday Night SmackDown, WWE officially announced a loaded card for next week’s episode from the LDLC Arena in Lyon, France. The August 29 show is set to feature two championship matches and a critical bout to determine the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
Solo Sikoa will defend the United States Championship against Sami Zayn. The match was confirmed after a backstage segment where Sikoa acknowledged he would be facing the “WrestleMania main-eventer” version of his challenger. Zayn recently moved to the blue brand with the explicit goal of winning the United States title for the first time and holds momentum from a pinfall victory over Sikoa in a non-title match two weeks ago.

In the women’s tag team division, champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are scheduled to defend their titles against The Secret Hervice (Alba Fyre & Piper Niven). The championship opportunity was granted after Piper Niven secured an upset singles victory over Charlotte Flair on this week’s episode, a win that came following interference from Chelsea Green.
A number one contender’s match will also take place to decide the next challengers for the WWE Tag Team Championship, currently held by The Wyatt Sicks. The Miz and Carmelo Hayes, who defeated The Motor City Machine Guns, will face The Street Profits, who were victorious over MFT’s JC Mateo and Tonga Loa.
The currently advertised lineup for the August 29 episode of SmackDown is as follows:
- United States Championship Match: Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Sami Zayn
- Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair (c) vs. The Secret Hervice (Alba Fyre & Piper Niven)
- WWE Tag Team Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Melo Don’t Miz (Carmelo Hayes & The Miz) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
