Mercedes Moné has denied speculation that she holds creative control over her storylines in AEW. The TBS Champion clarified that while she is involved in discussions, final decisions rest with AEW President Tony Khan.

In a recent interview, Moné explained that she works with whoever Khan pairs her with, emphasizing that her decision to join the company was based on the strength of its women’s division. She highlighted the division’s passion and motivation, crediting those factors for increased television time, more matches, and deeper storylines.

Her remarks echo previous statements by Khan, who has confirmed that he retains final authority over AEW’s creative direction while remaining open to hearing input from top talent, including Moné.

The same interview also drew attention when Moné was asked about a ranking of wrestlers who transitioned into acting. With John Cena listed third, Moné responded that she should be placed second and declared she was “definitely better than the guy you can’t see.”

Moné’s immediate schedule includes two high-profile matches. On Friday, August 22, she will defend the Undisputed British Women’s Championship against Emersyn Jayne at Revolution Pro Wrestling’s Global Wars. Two days later, on Sunday, August 24, she is set to defend the TBS Championship at Forbidden Door in a four-way match against Alex Windsor, Persephone, and Bozilla.
