Matt and Jeff Hardy have raised the stakes for their upcoming TNA World Tag Team Championship defense, suggesting they would contemplate retirement if they lose to The Dudleys at Bound For Glory on October 12. Speaking on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Matt Hardy addressed the possibility of losing the titles in the highly anticipated match.
“I mean, hypothetically, if that did happen, if we went to B for Glory and the Dudley’s won the TNA World Tag Team titles, I think we would have to take a long hard look in the mirror. And kind of judge where we’re at and like, you know, is it time to ride off into the sunset and and do the TNA Hall of Fame, time to do the WWE Hall of Fame? You know, we’ll see.”

During the same interview, Matt also speculated on the match stipulation, suggesting it could be a Tables match to commemorate their first-ever Tag Team Tables match against The Dudleys at Royal Rumble in 2000. When presented with the same retirement scenario, Jeff Hardy offered a more direct response focused on competition:
“I’ll be completely focused on our rematch for sure. I’d be ready.”
The challenge for Bound For Glory was issued by Bubba Ray Dudley at Slammiversary 2025. The confrontation occurred moments after The Hardys captured the TNA World Tag Team Titles in a Ladder War against The Nemeths, The Rascalz, and First Class.
The upcoming encounter is already framed as a historic finale, as it is being billed as the last match for D-Von Dudley, who is stepping away from the ring due to health issues. The Hardys’ recent statements now add another layer of finality to the contest, placing their own legendary careers in question.
