Multiple AEW Stars Sidelined Ahead of Forbidden Door

AEW is dealing with multiple injuries just days before Forbidden Door, with Will Ospreay, Nick Wayne, and Konosuke Takeshita all facing health issues that could affect the card.

During Dynamite, Ospreay confirmed he has not been medically cleared to compete this Sunday. He explained that his scheduled match was changed to an unsanctioned bout for that reason, and added that he may require surgery in the future, saying he needs to wrestle “before the doctors take a scalpel to my neck.” While surgery has not yet been confirmed, Ospreay’s condition was compared to an old neck injury sustained by Kurt Angle during his WWE run.

Nick Wayne also addressed his status on Dynamite, revealing a legitimate foot fracture. The ROH World Television Champion did not provide details on how the injury occurred, but if surgery is not required, recovery is estimated at ten weeks. As a result, Wayne was removed from Forbidden Door and replaced by Luchasaurus, who will now team with Kip Sabian against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.

Konosuke Takeshita recently suffered a concussion scare during his NJPW G1 Climax semifinal against Zack Sabre Jr. After taking a hard shot to the head, Takeshita reportedly had no memory of the match or a promo he recorded afterward. Despite that, he still wrestled in the tournament final the following night and later traveled to Scotland for Collision tapings. He is not currently scheduled for any match at Forbidden Door.

With Ospreay’s neck issue, Wayne’s fractured foot, and Takeshita’s head injury, AEW now enters Forbidden Door with several of its top stars dealing with significant health concerns.
