Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has directly addressed fan calls for a heel turn, stating he has no plans to become a villain. Speaking on his “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast, Rhodes discussed Becky Lynch’s previous run as a heel before making his own stance clear.
“I have the complete opposite outlook. On all these metrics, on all of these measurables, I just don’t have any interest in being a bad guy. I just don’t know if I could do it. I don’t know if my heart would be in it.”

Rhodes’ comments align with recent reports that WWE currently has no plans to alter his babyface character. This comes despite consistent fan discussion about a potential turn, which Rhodes has previously acknowledged by suggesting such a turn would have to be extreme.
The champion’s statement on his character direction comes as his feud with Drew McIntyre intensifies. On recent episodes of SmackDown, McIntyre has executed a series of attacks on Rhodes, including a Claymore kick that sent the champion through the announce table. The commentary team has framed McIntyre’s actions as a deliberate campaign to injure Rhodes ahead of their expected title match.
While WWE has not yet officially confirmed the bout, McIntyre is widely positioned as the challenger for Rhodes at Clash in Paris on August 31. The conflict escalated during a recent tag team match where Rhodes and John Cena faced McIntyre and Logan Paul, further cementing McIntyre as the primary antagonist to the champion.
The Undisputed WWE Championship match is expected to headline the premium live event at the Accor Arena in Paris. The ongoing and physical storyline between Rhodes and McIntyre remains the central focus of WWE’s television programming leading into the international event.
