According to a recent report from Hugo Savinovich of Lucha Libre Online, several influential figures within WWE are actively advocating for the return of Alberto Del Rio. The report specifically names Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker, Drew McIntyre, and Cody Rhodes among those who believe Del Rio deserves another opportunity with the company.
Savinovich stated that the support for Del Rio is widespread among top talent.
“The problem isn’t a big star telling the office, ‘I don’t want Alberto here.’ No—when a big star and other big stars say, ‘You know what? Alberto deserves to come back because he’s proven himself,’” Savinovich said.

The report also pointed to Rey Mysterio’s recent actions at Triplemania XXXIII as evidence of genuine support. During Konnan’s Hall of Fame induction on August 18, when the crowd chanted for Del Rio, Mysterio addressed them directly.
“He could’ve done anything else, but he chose to say, ‘I’ll bring him right now.’ Because in his heart, Rey wants Alberto back,” Savinovich commented.
The advocacy reportedly extends to creative influence, with The Undertaker said to be prepared to contribute to rebuilding Del Rio’s character. Savinovich also highlighted Roman Reigns’ perspective, suggesting the champion’s cultural values play a role in his support.
“The Samoan culture, like Puerto Ricans and other islanders, is about family, tradition, respect. When they call you brother or sister, it’s for life. And the Samoans—Usos, Roman Reigns—they want Alberto back. Why? Because it’s about justice.”
This report of high-level support emerges despite WWE’s official stance. Following Del Rio’s “Loser Leaves AAA” match in late July and Rey Mysterio’s public pledge at Triplemania, sources within WWE reiterated on August 18 that there were “no plans” for Del Rio’s return to any of its brands.
