Following his recent departure from WWE, Ashante “Thee” Adonis has stated he was frustrated by a lack of opportunity to display his full range of talent. During an appearance on the Limping Ain’t Easy podcast, Adonis expressed that he felt underutilized as a performer and actor within the company.
“I’m a performer. I’m an actor. I know I’m supposed to be in front of the camera, and I really wish that I could have shown that more in WWE — but that is not up to me.”

Adonis explained that acting was a childhood ambition that eventually intertwined with his interest in professional wrestling. He views the two fields as connected, believing one can open doors to the other. He also spoke about his mindset, stating he embraces challenges and is looking forward to the next stage of his career, even if it proves difficult.
“I don’t like being in my comfort zone. You have to purposely make yourself uncomfortable in order for you to grow as a human being… That’s why I’m excited about this whole new journey… because I know it’s not going to be easy. And I love that.”
Adonis officially became a free agent after his WWE contract expired on August 10, 2025. The company reportedly chose not to renew his main roster deal, allowing it to run its course rather than executing a release. This decision means Adonis is not subject to a 90-day non-compete clause and is free to sign with other promotions immediately.
His second tenure with WWE concluded with a run in NXT, where a recent storyline involving Karmen Petrovic was dropped before his contract expired. His last televised match was on the June 24, 2025, episode of NXT. Prior to his departure, Adonis was praised backstage for his work ethic and dedication. With B-Fab being the only member of the Hit Row faction still with WWE, Adonis’s exit marks another chapter for the group’s former members.
