Drew McIntyre Blasts WWE Locker Room in Scathing Remarks

Drew McIntyre isn’t backing down from his criticism of the WWE locker room. His message is blunt: get to the gym and meet the company’s physical standards. In his view, too many on the roster aren’t putting in the work to look like WWE stars.

Speaking to Wrestling Republic, McIntyre addressed his earlier claim that most of the roster doesn’t look the part. He adjusted the number slightly but stood by the point.

“Yeah, just — I said it recently. I don’t know why it was so controversial. The 85% — maybe I’m a little off. Maybe it’s like 82% of the roster. It’s like they don’t — they shouldn’t be WWE superstars.”

McIntyre stressed this isn’t only about size. For him, it’s about presence, professionalism, and standing out. In a company with “wrestling” in the name, he believes talent should look athletic and offer something visually distinct. He’s frustrated by what he sees as too many performers following the same mold.

Some veterans agree. On the August 14 episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 supported McIntyre’s stance, saying it’s a real opinion, not a promo line.

“Drew totally believes that, and he is right,” EC3 said, linking the criticism to concerns about fading “star power” and the on-screen image of today’s roster.

McIntyre also tied the issue to WWE’s business. With major TV deals and a constant fight for audience attention, he argued that talent must stand out on sight.

“Every single one of our segments have to be bangers. They have to have something to draw your eye… If you’re not physically larger-than-life, have something that makes you watch that segment.”

He finished with a direct challenge to his peers, saying there’s no excuse for not being in top condition.

“You get no freaking excuse — sitting on your couch eating pizza.”
